Premiership transfers in January, Wednesday 11th

The transfer window has opened and the rumour mill is working overtime to work out who is going where. The newspapers haven’t reported anything new about the alleged rift between Wayne Rooney and Sir Alex Ferguson. Newcastle are supposed to be interested in buying Andy Carroll back from Liverpool – but not for more than £10m for the striker they sold to the Anfield club for £35m a year ago according to the Sun. Neil Warnock has been sacked by QPR owner Tony Fernandez . Mark Hughes,  Guanfranco Zola and Sven Goran  Eriksson are all mentioned as possible replacements. Only one home win all season was Warnock’s downfall
