The transfer window has opened and the rumour mill is working overtime to work out who is going where. The newspapers haven’t reported anything new about the alleged rift between Wayne Rooney and Sir Alex Ferguson. Newcastle are supposed to be interested in buying Andy Carroll back from Liverpool – but not for more than £10m for the striker they sold to the Anfield club for £35m a year ago according to the Sun. Carroll has stuggled to establish himself at Anfield and manager Dalglish may have lost patience with Carroll.
In another paper, the Magpies would be willing to pay about £15m for Carroll, but the Tyneside club believes Liverpool’s valuation could be closer to £25m according to the Times .

It looked like the Cahill move was going to be completed last week , but Chelsea are still holding out on his wages . They need to be aware of financial restrictions placed on them by club owner Abramovich and UEFA’s fair play regulations.
Arsenal starlet Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain wants to leave the club on loan during the transfer window to boost his chances of getting on the plane for Euro 2012 , according to the Daily Star . Since he hasn’t started for England this seems like a distant hope for the player.
Manchester City boss Robery Mancini has accused United striker Roooney of waving an imaginary red card at the referee during Sunday’s match to get Kompany sent off. Rooney denies this and says he just raised his arms to claim a foul. Today the FA rejected Kompany’s appeal against the red card and confirmed the four match ban. Kompany has been one of Manchester City’s best players this season and his ban starts with tomorrow’s match against Liverpool in the Carling Cup semi-final.
Queens Spark Rangers have appointed Mark Sparky Hughes as manager replacing Neil Warnock. Hughes has a lot of experience as a Premiership manager with Blackburn Rovers, Manchester City and Fulham.Hughes is on a two and a half year contract. QPR have had 11 11managers in the past 5 years.
Rumours in the Sunday Mirror about a possible £60 million offer for striker Wayne Rooney. The story is that there is an uneasy truce at the moment between manager Ferguson and Rooney. In October 2010 Rooney said the club lacked ambition and said he wanted to leave. United were forced to offer him a new £250,000 a Contract to keep him happy. Now history may be repeating itself. If the is any chance of this story developing it would have to be this month during the January window.
Neil Warnock has been sacked by QPR owner Tony Fernandez . Mark Hughes, Guanfranco Zola and Sven Goran Eriksson are all mentioned as possible replacements. Only one home win all season was Warnock’s downfall
Two Rooney goals and one from Welbeck were enough for United to beat Citate she FA cup thriller. united wee three up at half time and looked well on theway to victory. City fought back well and got two goals to make it a tense finish . Kolarov scored from a free kick and Aguero added a second.
